Giant Armadillo The Armadillo has plating that covers most of its body. The armor is made up of hundreds of small, hard scales that are somewhat flexible. When the giant armadillo is threatened, it runs for safety or digs in the ground with its large front claws, leaving its armor-plated back exposed.
