What is Podcasting:

Podcasting is when audio files are uploaded as a series under one group or person.

What is Subscribing:

Subscribing is when you are able to get updates from items you have subscribed to. When you subscribe it will automatically upload new item posted by the person who runs the subscription.

 iTunes vs. Directories:

iTunes is a source where you can find any podcast just by searching, while in directories there are specific podcasts that you can find. Directories and iTunes both have many podcasts you can subscribe to and you can listen to a preview of the podcast before getting it.
